We think it’s safe to say everyone could use an urban escape right about now.

Start planning because this summer, you’ll be able to find Tiny Urban Escapes — a new boutique hotel concept — in the Haughville neighborhood on the west side.

Created by a west side native — Tiny Urban Escapes is a Black-owned, female-led enterprise that aims to go beyond hospitality by transforming its community and becoming a catalyst for economic growth + development on the west side.

Owner Robin Staten-Lanier’s concept will take upcycled shipping containers and convert them into a hidden micro getaway with private suites and an event space.

The four suites will have different styles with queen-sized beds, luxury amenities + access to private experiences like artist shops, yoga retreats, and chefs.

The project broke ground Friday and is expected to take ~seven months to complete. The project — estimated to cost half a million dollars — received funding from Local Initiatives Support Corporation Indianapolis, a nonprofit that helps community development organizations transform distressed communities.
