The Monon 30 Project — created by a team of nine local companies — is planning to take a cluster of industrial properties that are vacant + deteriorating on both sides of the Monon Trail between E. 29th St. and Sutherland Ave. and transform it into a mixed-use project with residentialretail + commercial space.

The development — nearly 14.5 acres + costing roughly $100 million — hopes to serve as a catalyst for the neighborhood to overcome the challenges of the environmentally + economically-distressed area.

Here’s what the developers plan to do with all of that land:

  • Restaurants
  • Pop-ups + art galleries
  • Grocery + parking
  • Cultural + educational facilities
  • Event + performance center
  • Apartments with affordable units

Fences + sidewalks in disrepair currently prevent residents from accessing the Monon Trail. A critical part of the project will be breaking down those barriers and connecting the area to the trail.

Construction is projected to ideally begin in spring 2022, with multiple segments of the development in the works at the same time.
