In this town, brunchin’ ain’t easy but it’s necessary. Whether you’re on the hunt for fluffy eggs, fried chicken and waffles or mind-blowing bloody marys, the options can get as overwhelming as the lines at times. 🍳

Petite Chou Bistro & Champagne Bar | Sun.-Tues. 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Wed.-Sat. 8 a.m.-9 p.m. | A tightly packed + aesthetically pleasing patio serving up classic bistro fare earned it recognition as one of Travel & Leisure’s Top French Restaurants in the US.

Public Greens | Wed.-Sat. 11:30am-8:00pm, Sun. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. | This modern, farm-inspired eatery serves a rotating series of seasonal bowls, grilled, and handheld items + is also a working urban microfarm.

Amelia’s | Every day 8 a.m.-8 p.m. | For a quick grab-and-go option, stop by Amelia’s for coffee + a pastry. Dessert for breakfast? Try the gelato.

The Garden Table | Tues.-Sun. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. | Menus at the Broad Ripple + Mass Ave. locations may differ, but one thing worth trying — The Garden Table’s cold pressed juices.

Lincoln Square Pancake House | Every day 7 a.m.-3 p.m. | This classic first-generation family business (established in 1989) has 10 different locations across central Indiana.

  • Total Wine & More is getting ready to open its fourth and largest Indiana location at Cool Creek Commons (2520 E. 146th St.) in Westfield, although its website lists the location as Carmel.   • Go, Colts. Yesterday, the team made a 20-17 comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. This was the the Colts’ home opener + the first win of the season. Next up — the Colts will host the Tennessee Titans on Sun., Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. 🏈 (WTHR)

  • Brownsburg residents have earned some bragging rights. A recent study from SmartAsset ranked Brownsburg, IN the No. 1 suburb located near a large city, compared to nearly 500 others. The town ranked at the top for its affordable housing, jobs, and livability. 🏡 (IndyStar)

  • Since 2019, Greencastle has been home to one of Indiana’s largest murals. Now, thanks to six artists from across the world, Putnam County is getting five new murals — two in Greencastle, two in Roachdale + one in Fillmore. The Putnam County Mural Project created the county’s first Mural Festival centered around the artists, which took place Friday. 🎨 (WRTV)

  • A west side bakery has been serving up a taste of Hispanic culture since 2018. The owner of Artisan Bakery and Pastries is from Mexico City + prepares a variety of traditional pastries for Hoosiers to try, including cream puffs, milhojas cake, tres leches cake, and conchas.   • Hi & Mighty made its debut at the state fairgrounds with a canned Lemon Shake Up cocktail and now it’s adding a new drink to the lineup — The Spiced Apple Sidekick. The new cocktail is made with real apple, barrel-aged California brandy, lemon + orange liqueur, and autumn spices. It’s set to hit stores this week. 🍎
Feel Good
  • Last week, the Indianapolis Indians made a local 8-year-old’s dream come true. The team partnered with Make-A-Wish to make Michael Parker — who was diagnosed with blood cancer in October 2021 — the youngest player to sign with the Indians for a one-day contract. 🧢 (CBS4)

  • IU Health opened one of the largest family medicine practices in the state. The $10 million outpatient center at Indiana Avenue and 10th Street will accommodate 60+ providers, while addressing patient needs. The facility is twice the size of its predecessor and has twice as many doctors on staff. 🏥 (IndyStar)

Harrison Center getting boulder 🧗

The Harrison Center is raising the rooftop patio with a 109-ft bouldering wall.

Last week, the center announced on social media that construction has begun + soon visitors will be able to climb routes installed by Andres Hernandez-Jimenez on First Fridays and select events.

The next First Friday coming up on Oct. 8 from 6-9 p.m. will include a “Spooky!” gallery opening with mildly haunted works by Emma Overman.

ICYMI: City Editor Anna has even tried an ArtFit experience at the Harrison Center.
