We know how much our readers love INDYtoday, and we also believe there’s enough love to go around. We’re sharing a few of the many options for Naptown residents looking to read up on all things local.
☕ For the coffee connoisseurs
If you love coffee shop hopping, you probably follow Indianapolis Coffee Guide on Instagram. Did you know it also has a print magazine called BATCH? After successfully releasing its first print issue a little over a year ago, its second issue is currently in the works. Right now, the publication plans to run 1-2 issues a year with no subscription option (yet).
Get excited because BATCH is having an Issue 2 launch party on Thurs., Nov. 17 + this issue will be a limited run with only ~1,000-1,500 copies printed. Interested in getting involved with BATCH? Learn more.
👠 For the fashionistas
In case you didn’t know, Indy has a fashion scene. Just look at Indiana Fashion Week.
PATTERN Magazine is a go-to for fashion lovers. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit media company has been celebrating over a decade of local photography, culture, and fashion. PATTERN is throwing a party for its 22nd issue this Sat., Oct. 22 — the first time in two years that it’s been able to properly celebrate a launch.

The Indianapolis Review was established in 2017 and is a quarterly online publication that highlights poetry, art, and visual poetry. Indianapolis Review is a volunteer-run publication that believes in keeping submissions free. Yesterday afternoon, IU officials broke ground on a new $230 million medical education + research building just a few miles away from the IU School of Medicine. The 11-story, 326,000+ sqft facility is the largest construction project in the school’s history. It’s aiming to take occupancy in late fall 2024. 🏗️ (IBJ)

Here’s the scoop. Local Fundae’s Ice Cream & Sweets is adding a location in Westfield. Construction is underway for the new shop at the corner of Spring Mill Road and 161st Street. It currently has locations in Whitestown and Speedway. 🍦 (Indianapolis Monthly)
Healthy eating chain Rush Bowls — specializing in smoothie bowls — is coming soon to the Nickel Plate Stationmulti-use complex in Fishers. This will be the brand’s first location in central Indiana. Its only other location is in Bloomington. 🥣

Locally-owned MashCraft brewing is joining the growing pickleball scene.The brewery recently expanded its Fishers location by 3,500 sqft to include two pickleball courts in their patio space. Indy Pickleball is in on the game, offering clinics on the court each Wednesday evening (weather permitting). 🏓

Wholesale retailer Costco is eyeing Noblesville. According to the liquor license application granted by the Hamilton County Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the company wants to build a new store on the southwest corner of East 148th Street + North Point Blvd. Although Costco already has four locations in the Indy metro area, this would be the first one in Hamilton County.🛒 (CBS4)
Civic
Both IMPD and Beech Grove police officers can expect pay raises starting in 2023. Base salary for IMPD officers will increase to just over $61,000 annually, with a $10,000 signing bonus in hopes of attracting new officers. Beech Grove officers will receive a 12% salary increase, with rookies making a little more than $67,000 a year. 🚓 (WRTV)

Andretti Autosports announced Marco Andretti will return to the Greatest Spectacle in Racing in his No. 98 Honda seat for another shot at his first Indy 500 victory. Marco will be entering his third racing season since scaling back his schedule. Colton Herta, Romain Grosjean, Kyle Kirkwood, and Devlin DeFrancesco will also be racing for the team this May. 🏎️ (IndyStar)

The Girl Scouts of Central Indiana just got a big gift from Jeff Bezos’ former wife. Billionaire MacKenzie Scott donated$2.4 million to the Indianapolis-based group, which was one of 29 local Girl Scouts branches given the historic donation.
