Incentives have been approved for a $30.2 million expansion plan for Noblesville’s largest private employer. City Council voted in support of a sliding 10-year tax abatement for SMC Corp. of America to build a 27,000-sqft space and invest in more capital improvements. Get the details. 🏗️ (IBJ)
A $410 million capital referendum was unanimously approved to go on the May 2023 ballot by the Indianapolis Public Schools board. It would fund projects like rebuilding an elementary school and upgrading various facilities across the district. A new convenience store chain is on the horizon. Wawa, based in Pennsylvania, plans to expand into Indiana, but no specific locations have been determined yet. Football head coach Jeff Brohm is leaving Purdue for his alma mater, the University of Louisville. The reported $35 million deal would be for six years. On Monday, Jan. 2, the two universities will battle it out during the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL. 🏈 (WTHR)

City-County Council has approved the development of a carbon credit program for Hoosiers in Marion County to generate revenue for urban forest maintenance across Indy. The potential program would sell credits for the carbon sequestration provided by trees, encouraging folks to reduce carbon emissions. 🌳
