You can get coffee until 5 p.m. at Parlor Public House before it switches over to its cocktail menu. | Photo by INDYtoday team
Finding an open coffee shop around Indy late in the day might seem like a tall order, but we’ve rounded up eight spots to get that evening pick-me-up.
Strictly coffee
Amelia’s Bread, Windsor Park
Not just a place to grab focaccia and croissants, the Amelia’s next to Kan-Kan Cinema & Brasserie also offers cups of coffee from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.Pro tip: We recommend trying the mocha.
Command Coffee, 2910 N. College Ave.
During weekdays, the coffee shop (which also has a drive-thru if you’re in a rush) is open from 4:30 a.m.-7 p.m., and on weekends it’s open an extra half-hour later.
Bovaconti, 1042 Virginia Ave.
Open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week, this Fountain Fletcher District staple is conveniently located on a strip full of shopping spots, so when you’re done with your work you can do some retail therapy.
MOTW, Indianapolis, Castleton, Fishers
On the weekend, MOTW stays open until midnight, making it the perfect place for a relaxed first date or getting a constant source of caffeine while you’re working on a deadline.
This is a regular spot for both City Editors Nicole and Anna.

Coffee and cocktails
Commissary, 304 E. New York St.
By day, this coffee and barber shop goes by Commissary, but by night, it transitions into a place to sip hand-crafted cocktails called Blind Tiger.
Parlor Public House, 600 E. Ohio St. No laptops after 7 p.m. at this hybrid drink concept. And though it stops serving its caffeinated beverages after 5 p.m., you can still soak in those coffee shop vibes with a Coffee Till Cocktails Tini Thursday-Saturday until midnight.
Provider, 1101 E. 16th St.
We recommend one of Provider’s signature pistachio lattes at this Kennedy-King spot inside the historic Tinker House building. You can stay until 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and enjoy an espresso martini to keep the caffeine buzz going.
Top Out Café, 1411 Roosevelt Ave. When you’re done climbing, head upstairs at North Mass Boulder for a coffee or beer and a snack — the spot is open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.

What you want to do with Indy’s old Marsh locations
INDYtoday readers blew us away with their suggestions this week. | Photo by INDYtoday team
We asked and you delivered, Hoosiers. After sharing some of Indy’s plans for its vacant Marsh locations, we offered up an opportunity for INDYtoday readers to brainstorm about what they would like to see move in. And boy, is our cart full of thoughtful nuggets.
Indoor playgrounds
The overwhelming consensus among Indy residents was to transform the grocery stores into indoor playgrounds forkids. Some suggested modeling them after KidCity or Skyzone and including a coffee shop for parents.
More gyms
This survey has taught us that Hoosiers love VASA Fitness and Planet Fitness. There were several votes for each, especially in the Greenwood, Bargersville, Whiteland, and Franklin areas.
Activity venues
There was a healthy mix of bowling alleys, pickleball courts, roller skating rinks, and indoor soccer suggestions, and one of you said an indoor dog park would be helpful to exercise those high energy dogs.
A place for food
While a good number of you shouted out more Trader Joe’s, there were some other great food-related suggestions, as well. Between a test kitchen, a food hall, and another Saraga location, we vote for sticking with something local.
THE WRAP
Today’s issue was written by Anna.
Editor’s pick: I can’t write about coffee shops open late without reminiscing about evenings spent at Thirsty Scholar. We thought we had seen progress being made to this once lively spot for studying and socializing, but that buzz has died down. If you have an update, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
