Well, 16 Tech Community Corporation — the nonprofit organization leading the development of the district — announced it’s giving $325,000 in grant awards to 11 resident-endorsed projects.
The recipients of the grants are organizations that directly support the district’s nearby neighborhoods, like the near west and near northwest side.
The total grant money awarded by 16 Tech Communtity Corportation is being split into two pools:
Innovation awardees — to support projects that are led by grassroots and neighborhood-based organizations.
Impact awardees — to fund projects that have a significant impact on neighborhoods and residents.
Cleo’s Bodega and Cafe is a grocery store, cafe, and community space dedicated empowering Indy’s Black community.

Here are a few of the organizations and how they make a difference in the community.
Growing Places Indy — Indy Winter Farmers Market ($23,800)
This nonprofit increases access to food for area residents and creates a space forlocal farmers and vendors to extend their selling season and profits.
Code Black Indy — Workforce Development for Adults ($25,000)
The organization’s goal is to teach young adults and working-age adults computer science and technology skills to create access to higher-paying jobs and end cycles of poverty.
Flanner House — Bridges to Health: Improving the Pathway to Affordable Healthy Food ($20,000)
Flanner Farms and Cleo’s Bodega and Cafe offers the near northwest community access to healthy food and household needs in an area where access is a challenge. It also offers customer-based training in food trauma, nutrition awareness, cooking classes for healthy food, and direct delivery.
