Not-for-profit cultural development agency Urban Legacy Lands Initiative Inc. announced that it has received$1.6 million in grant money to support projects along Indiana Avenue. The money will be used to restore historically Black Indianapolis areas + boost education. 💵 (IBJ)
The Indiana State Fair announced that eighties rock icon Pat Benatar + husband Neil Giraldo will perform Sun., Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The four-time Grammy Award winners will close out this year’s festivities. View the rest of the lineup. 🎶 (WRTV)
Dunkin’ will open a new location on the corner of College Avenue + 49th Street. It will be the eighth shop in Indianapolis, and it is currently slated to open in mid-August. We’ll keep you posted on any changes. 🍩 (WRTV)
Want to see Indy from a new perspective? Indianapolis City Market + Indiana Landmarks have partnered for another season of catacombs tours. Tours will be available May-October on the first and third Saturdays of the month and after-hours tours will be available once a month for those over 21. 🔦 (WTHR)
Indianapolis officials announced plans to expand IMPD’s Mobile Crisis Assistance Team. Currently eight teams of two — one officer + one licensed mental health care worker — are responsible for answering calls during select weekday hours. The new plan will make a team ofonly mental health counselorsavailable 24/7. 🧠 (WTHR)
Since 2017, the former Women’s Prison on Randolph and New York Streets has been empty. This week, demolition crews arrived on the property to clean up the land. The project is expected to continue through the remainder of the year. 🛠 (FOX59)
