We’ve rounded up some spots around Indy where you can catch a movie under the stars.

Should we reiterate the reminder to bring bug spray + a blanket?

It’s summer time, which calls for more time spent outdoors. Grab some popcorn, a drink, and maybe some bug spray because we’re taking the big screen outside.

A watch in the park

Visit MacAllister Amphitheater at Garfield Park for “Movies at the Mac” at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 23 to see “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish,” Friday, July 14 to see “Matilda” (1996), and Friday, Aug. 25 to see “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”

Stop by Taggart Amphitheatre at Riverside Park for free “Movies at the Monument” on Fridays at 9 p.m. The schedule includes “Back to the Future” on July 7, “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish” on Aug. 11, and “Encanto” on Sept. 8.

The “Summer Nights Film Series” is back at Newfields on Fridays and select Saturdays in June, July, and August. All you need is a chair or blanket, and guests are welcome to pack their own picnic. At the drive-in

Put it in park. Tibbs Drive-In Theatre has been around since 1967 and is Indy’s only drive-in movie theater. This nostalgic spot is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings during the summer. Bring the whole family (even the pups) for current Hollywood releases + the occasional classic.

Up north

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and visit Carmel for “Movies at Midtown” now through Tuesday, Oct. 31 for movies in Midtown Plaza. Showings are on Tuesdays at noon and 6 p.m. + Thursdays at 6 p.m. Follow along on Facebook or Instagram for movie announcements.

Want to watch a movie outdoors but without the summer heat? Friday evening “Movies in the Plaza” starts at Grand Junction Plaza in Westfield in September. See “Ratatouille” on Sept. 15, “Space Jam (1996)” on Sept. 29, “Halloweentown” on Oct. 27, and “White Christmas (1954)” on Dec. 1.
