Indianapolis-based Traders Point Christian Church announced its moving forward with plans to redevelop the property — becoming the home to its Midtown campus, a new financial institution, and future tenants, including a substation for IMPD. This is after almost three years since purchasing an old Marsh supermarket on the city’s north side. ⛪ (WISH)
Indianapolis Animal Care Services announced its receiving a $3 million grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, as part of the city’s redevelopment of Sherman Park. It will be used to help fund the construction of a new facility on the near east side, replacing the existing + outdated shelter at 2600 S. Harding St. 🐾(IBJ)

Natural State Provisions — taking over the space left by Rad Brewing at 414 Dorman St. — is getting ready to celebrate its grand opening on Sun., Sept. 25 from 7-10 p.m. The spot will serve up southern comfort food + brews, and will feature a dog park to welcome your furry friends. 🍻
Community
As of yesterday, AES Indiana electric bills will increase by around 12% through November. The utility company says prices for natural gas + coal “have increased substantially over the past year,” and that it will not profit from the higher bills. Customers who use 1,000 kWh of electricity will see an increase of $15.78. ⚡(WRTV)
Outdoors
Heads up, trailblazers. Portions of the Monon Trail are temporarily closedtoday (Fri., Sept. 2). The trail from 91st to 96th streets will temporarily close from 8 a.m.-noon to allow DPW crews to complete maintenance in the area. 🚲
