Whenever we’re feeling saucy, we like to dig into a slice of local pizza. Indy’s pizza scene is bubbling with options — and we keep finding ways to top ourselves. If you’re on the quest for the perfect slice, we’ve pie-oneered a list of 15 places to grab pizza that are definitely worth the dough.

Local legends

Bazbeaux, Multiple locations
With three locations and 37 years in business, Bazbeaux is an Indy icon. From traditional to exotic + premium toppings, plus multiple vegan options, you can truly build the pizza of your dreams here.

Jockamo’s Upper Crust Pizza, Multiple locations
Jockamo’s is beloved for its huge menu of unique pizzas, like the Bollywood and the chicken broccoli alfredo. It even serves breakfast-style “hangover pizzas” all day Saturday + Sunday.

Pizza King, Multiple locations
With its legendary feast pizzas, Pizza King has a taste recognizable to any Hoosier. It’s been around for over 60 years, and is known for its pizzas being “good to the very edge.”

King Dough, Holy Cross
Want a fancy date night, but also, pizza? King Dough takes pride in its upscale menu, from a grape + gorgonzola pizza to truffle fries. In fair weather months, it also has some of the best outdoor seating in the city.

Napolese, Multiple locations
From six-time James Beard Foundation semifinalist Martha Hoover comes this elegant restaurant, which is all about artfully made pizza and stone hearth baking. Whether you hit the location in Meridian-Kessler or at The Fashion Mall at Keystone, the experience is sure to remain top-notch.

Byrne’s Grilled Pizza, Meridian-Kessler
After getting its start as a humble food truck, Byrne’s has become a local staple, bolstered by not only its variety of unique pizzas but its special sauces like caper + olive or spicy beer cheese. The in-house Rhino Bar offers an impressive variety of wine and cocktails to round out your fancy meal.

Diavola, Broad Ripple
Did someone say wine bar? This Broad Ripple restaurant slings truly gourmet pies, pastas, and wines from around the world — as well as the largest menu of Italian desserts that we’ve seen locally.

Cross-country crusts

Goodfellas, Multiple locations
Night owls can confirm: Goodfellas knows what it’s doing. With locations smack dab in the middle of two of Indy’s biggest nightlife neighborhoods that are open until 3 a.m. on Fridays + Saturdays, there’s no better place to grab that much-needed late night slice of New York-style pie. Pro tip: The Mass Ave location also has a cool speakeasy in the back with amazing cocktails.

Futuro, Holy Cross
Known for its Detroit-style deep dish pizza, Futuro has made a name for itself with clever combos and huge pies. If you don’t love deep dish, thin crust and gluten-free crust options are also available.

Brozinni Pizzeria, Multiple locations
Brozinni takes its identity as a New York-style joint seriously, with every pizza named after a location in the Big Apple. If you’re looking to dial up your NYC experience even further, add one of its amazing calzones or cannoli to your order.

Giorgio’s Pizza, Mile Square
Big stuffed crust fan? You can choose any filling to stuff with your pizza with at this unassuming downtown restaurant. Led by an Italian-born chef, Giorgio’s also offers authentic Italian-style slices.

The menu at NBO is anything but ordinary. Want to pair your pizza with maple sriracha wings? Or boom boom shrimp tacos? The options are almost endless.

Some Guys, Glendale
For having such an unassuming name, this restaurant serves up some top-notch pies — plus an assortment of delicious pastas, subs, and salads for when you feel like shaking it up.

Pearl Street Pizzeria & Pub, Mile Square
Just two blocks from Monument Circle, this back-alley restaurant is the perfect stop before a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse or Lucas Oil Stadium. It carries a wide selection of local microbrews on tap to go with your specialty pizza, wrap, or homemade soup.

Magoo’s California Pizza, Eagledale
Magoo’s sets itself apart from its competitors by using 100% halal meats — and its kabob pizza is a menu standout. Plus, you can even order a burger or pizza naan here.

A ballin’ fitness club franchise is coming to Noblesville — giving basketball players a new place to hoop. PickUp USA Fitness (15375 Herriman Blvd.) is a 18,000-sqft gym featuring two NBA-sized basketball courts, one half-court, a 4,000-sqft weight room, cardio and training rooms, and a Dr. Dish basketball workout machine. A tech startup investing nearly $3 million to establish its headquarters in Fishers is expected to create up to 300 new jobs by the end of 2026. The video tech company spokenote was founded in 2021 + provides a platform to “add video to everything.” 💻 (CBS4)

Community

Citizens Energy Group customers can expect a rate hike that’s projected to cost ~$90 over the next five months. The company — which services about 900,000 people in the Indy area — said it expects natural gas heating bills to increase an average of $18 per month for the five-month winter heating season. ⚡ (WTHR)

Travel

The Indianapolis Downtown Heliport (located between New Jersey and East streets) could be closed to air traffic later this year by the FAA. The Indianapolis Airport Authority expects to receive federal approval to decommission the heliport by the end of the year — making a big step towards efforts to redevelop the property. 🚁 (IBJ)

Sports

Indy’s minor league baseball team has been called the “Indians” since 1902, but 2+ years ago, the franchise committee began to research the appropriateness of the team’s name. The Native American Guardian’s Association told the team to keep the name and use it as an opportunity to educate the community. ⚾ (IndyStar)

A home on Highland Avenue has a Halloween display that is anything but humerus. The bone-afied display of skeletons and scarecrows is taking part in Skeletons for Saint Jude — a campaign to benefit children in need of care at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Indy Pizza Week starts tomorrow, Oct. 15 and runs through Fri., Oct 21 to celebrate all things ‘za.
