The North Meridian corridor is set to look a lot different in the coming years.
Indianapolis-based real estate company TWG, healthcare real estate company Innovcare, and the city have invested $65 million to transform six buildings on the near north side into a medical facility and a mixed-use retail and residential space.
🏘️ Housing
The vacant buildings at the following addresses will be demolished and replaced with a six-story affordable housing apartment building containing 166 multifamily units and 1,500 sqft of commercial and retail space on the first floor.
1815 N. Meridian St.
1819 N. Meridian St.
1829 N. Meridian St.
1835 N. Meridian St.
1927 N. Meridian St.
There will also be an elevated courtyard, a pool, and some grilling stations on top of its parking garage.
This project will add affordable housing near the IndyGo Red Line and revitalize historic neighborhoods including Herron-Morton Place, the Near Northside, and the Old Northside.
This project is expected to take two years and hopes to be leasing by May 2025.
🏥 Health care
The 40,000-sqft building at 1840 N. Meridian St. — which was previously owned by Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and has been vacant for more than seven years — is already in progress and will become the new home of Adult & Child Health to provide mental and physical health services to the area.
It’s expected to be completed by the end of the year.
