At the beginning of this year, we asked our readers to submit story ideas for us to cover in 2023, and Brooke L.'s question was too delicious to pass up: “Where can I get really good French pastries?”

So without further adieu, here are our top recs for some of the best pâtisserie-like spots around Indy.

  • The Eskenazi Health Foundation is launching a campaign to address health equity gaps across Indy. The $60 million, five-year plan will examine social determinants of health like food insecurity and transportation. It will designate three health equity zones on the northeast, far east, and west sides of the city. (IndyStar)

  • More than 400 jobs are currently available at Indy Parks this summer. Positions start between $13 and $18.75 an hour and include pool managers, camp counselors, cashiers, and lifeguards. A $500 early bird bonus is also offered to those who start before Friday, April 7. Apply now. (WRTV)

  • A new Black-owned professional equity theater is launching its first roster of productions on Saturday, May 13. The Naptown African American Theatre Collective is a nonprofit that plans to offer workshops to build up Hoosier Black creatives as well as put on performances like “Black Book” at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre.   • ClusterTruck is expanding its delivery range. Now, those in Rocky Ripple, 38th Street from the Canal to Emerson Avenue, and up to College Avenue and 86th Street can get loaded tots at their door. Plus, the downtown location will deliver to the Garfield Park neighborhood and through Brookside Park. See the map. (WTHR)

  • The weekend of Saturday, May 20-Sunday, May 21, Unicorn World will be cantering over to the Indiana Convention Center, featuring life-sized unicorns, fairy and mermaid meet-and-greets, and various games. Children under 2 years old get in for free. Get tickets.

  • The Tibbs Drive-In is doing its part to make Indy a more beautiful place. The movie spot is offering a carload pass to anyone who fills two full-size garbage bags with litter. Speaking of Amelia’s, anyone remember way back when it would do brownie scrap trivia? About once a week, the bakery would take to Instagram stories and ask little questions like, “How many grams of cocoa do we use in our brownies each week?” and the closest guesser would receive a bag of those extra special brownie edges. Here’s hoping it makes a comeback soon.
