Development
  • There’s a petition to develop 200 acres of land on the northwest side. The project would include retail shops, health care facilities, office space, and high-end restaurants located between I-465 and Conarroe Road. A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. at the Pike Township Government Center. (WISH)
  • The proposed Eleven Park stadium is getting a new neighbor. A local entrepreneur who studied culinary arts in Italy is planning a 5,400-sqft pizza spot across from the redevelopment site. It will be just north of the Industry event center and final approval for the project is set for Wednesday, April 19. (IBJ)
Biz
  • Change of plans. Over a week ago, we told you The Slippery Inn would be moving toward a 21+ business model, but the restaurant has since announced it would remain open for family dining. However, minors will have to enter through its newly designated family dining entrance on the building’s north side. (WISH)
Edu
  • To fill 1,600+ open teaching positions across the state, Indianapolis Public Schools and Christel House has started a new recruitment program that will certify and train teachers within a year. It’s a no-cost program that puts apprentices in the classroom with a mentor. Learn more. (WTHR)
  • Tutoring vouchers of up to $1,000 will be available to fourth and fifth graders studying reading and math, thanks to The Boys & Girls Club and Indiana Learns. The funding to address a growing education gap could help up to 75,000 kids, if taken advantage of. (WISH)

Not that this has happened to me (wink), but if you ever lose your car after hiking for hours on one of the trails listed above, your phone might be the answer. Yes, we all know about GPS, but did you know you can search for your car’s precise location by typing “find my car” into Apple Maps? It’s a pretty useful hack — trust me.
