News Notes
Weather
  • 63º | Thunderstorm | 80% chance of rain
Traffic
  • Heads up southwest side commuters. INDOT is scheduled to finish lane switches on I-465 this weekend. Starting at 8 p.m. today, eastbound I-465 will be reduced to one lane between I-65 and I-70 near the airport, and several eastbound ramps will be closed. (WTHR)
Opening
  • The highly anticipated Tomorrow Bookstore announced its grand opening date. The independent shop will officially open its doors at 882 Mass Ave. on Saturday, April 15. It will be open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Get there early because the first 25 customers will get a free bookstore tote bag.
Development
  • Whitestown is fast-growing. A subsidiary of Carmel-based developer Pedcor Companies plans to build a 400-unit apartment complex near the Golf Club of Indiana. The Maddox will feature 11 residential buildings on ~33 acres, near the intersection of East Whitestown Parkway and Cardinal Lane. Construction would begin late this year with residents moving in mid-2025. (IBJ)
Announced
  • IMS announced pop-rock musician Bryan Adams will headline this year’s Carb Day concert with support from Soul Asylum. The concert is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 26. Get tickets. (IBJ)
Plan Ahead
  • The wackiest baseball team is coming to Indy. The Savannah Bananas announced that they will be introducing a ticket lottery system where existing entries will be randomly drawn and offered a chance to purchase tickets, due to high demand. The team will play at Victory Field on June 29-30. (WISH)
Tech
  • A week after TikTok’s CEO testified on Capitol Hill about the app’s ability to keep user data safe, Purdue University made the decision to block access to TikTok on the university’s Wi-Fi network. People on campus will still be able to use TikTok on their cellular data plans. (WRTV)
Drink
  • An electric wine opener is one of those inexpensive kitchen gadgets that you don’t know how you lived without once you get one. We especially love this one for its sleek design and ergonomic grip. To upgrade your wine even further, this set includes an automatic wine aerator and reusable vacuum stopper.
Finance
  • Refinance rates are skyrocketing. But home equity rates remain relatively low — which means that now is a great time to borrow against your home. Calculate your payment.*
