  • Local Tulip Tree Creamery is a 2024 finalist for the 14th annual Good Food Awards, a national award celebrating “tasty, authentic, and responsible food.” Each of the 428 finalists cleared category-specific sustainability standards + won a blind tasting.
Community
  • The Krannert Park Family and Aquatic Center will reopen at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22. The newly renovated center now includes an indoor pool, weight room, and refurbished facilities.
Arts
  • With just a few months before the total eclipse crosses Indy on Monday, April 8, Indiana Humanities is seeking a poet to put the phenomenon to words. The winning submissions will receive cash prizes, including $500 for first place. Review the guidelines and submit by Friday, Feb. 9.
Cause
  • Boyz II Men will headline the 2024 Damar Gala on Saturday, March 2. Along with a performance by the iconic vocal group, the evening will include a cocktail hour, auctions, and gourmet dinner. Proceeds will benefit Damar, a leading care provider for people with disabilities. Tickets start at $225.

  • On select Wednesdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Amberson Coffee & Grocer will transform into Slow Bar, exploring a single coffee as a pour-over and a specialty drink, available on that day only. Slow Bar will go for a few months, so follow along on socials to catch the next one.

  • Dust off your paddles. A new pickleball “country club” called The Dink House is coming to the former Horton Fan Factory building on the Monon Greenway in Carmel this April. Membership tiers start at $900 annually, plus initiation fees, but non-members can rent courts for $40 per hour. (IBJ)

  • The Indiana Department of Education released an online heat map showing literacy rates across the state. The tool, which uses data from students in the third grade, is designed to provide districts with information to help reach 95% literacy by 2027. (WISH)

  • “Amazing Indiana Music Stories” is a new free exhibit at the Indiana State Library, hosted by the Indiana Music History Project. The displays tell the stories of historic Hoosiers in pop music, including The Jackson 5 and Gennett Records. (IndyStar)
