15,000. That’s how many more Indianapolis 500 tickets IMS has sold by the first week of May compared to ticket sales in the leadup to the 2023 race. That means more than 90% of the ~234,000 grandstand seats have been accounted for — leaving less than 24,000 available. (IndyStar)

Last week, we asked you which race events you’re attending this May. Here’s what you said:
Andretti Autosport has scaled back from four full-time cars to three in 2024. Colton Herta and Kyle Kirkwood return, while Marcus Ericsson arrives from Chip Ganassi Racing.
46% of you said you’ll be attending the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
35% of you said you’re not attending any racing events.
27% of you said you’ll be at Indy 500 Practice.
If you’re rethinking your decision, there’s still time to get in on the action. You can kick off racing events this weekend with the Sonsio Grand Prix. Don’t know what that is? It’s slightly different from the Indy 500, but with the same familiar sights and sounds at the Speedway. The Grand Prix features IndyCar stars as they take on the road course at IMS.
Practice and qualifying are tomorrow and race day is Saturday, May 11.
I went to the Grand Prix for the first time last year. I thought it was pretty cool and it provides a different vibe compared to the Indy 500.
Fun fact: The 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course incorporates portions of Turns 1 and 2 and the frontstraight of the famed oval + the remainder of the circuit is within the infield, allowing for great spectator viewing.
