Happy haunts await at Irvington’s annual Halloween Festival

Country Living named it one of the 30 best Halloween festivals in the country — and it just so happens to be on the near east side of Indianapolis.
The Historic Irvington Halloween Festival — one of the largest + longest-running Halloween festivals nationwide — is back this year with more offerings than ever. Named after Washington Irving, author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” it makes sense that the neighborhood would maintain such terrifying traditions.
This Irvington house is a Monster House if we’ve ever seen one.

“Miss Girl and I would start at Amberson Coffee for a yap session and then enjoy brunch at Milktooth. Then I would take her shopping at Silver in the City where I would treat her to something cutesy and demuresy, and I’m sure she would love a walk around Mass Ave. To cap things off, we would head north to Broad Ripple to feed the ducks and then get a little sipsy at Just Pop In and take an evening stroll through Newfields. Perfect day in Indy!” — @lesliedecker

If you know me, you know that I take Halloween costumes very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that I don’t reveal my plans to anyone ahead of time (except for my husband and baby, who are involved this year.) But here’s a hint: I’ll be working with this giant hand costume.
