👻 Eerie-sistible local treats

It’s Crunch time. Halloween is less than two weeks away.

We know there’s nothing like a Hershey’s chocolate bar, M&Ms, or Twix in your bucket at the end of the night — but what about a treat supporting a local business?

We’re sharing some locally-made sweets that you’ll be goblin all night long.

Sprinkle Joy | We’ll be honest, we’re not big fans of candy corn — but we’ll eat a candy corn macaron.
INDY_JAdore_Pumpkin cake_OCT2024

Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll find this pumpkin at Bluebeard.

J’Adore | Life is gourd with a dessert like this: Pumpkin mousse, orange marmalade, and brown sugar cinnamon cake.

Salamat Cookies | This local cookie company has dropped a Pumpkin Sweet Potato Praline cookie. It’s packed with pumpkin spice, praline pecans, and a gooey center with housemade sweet potato jam that’ll have you coming back for more.

The Best Chocolate in Town | Do we really need to say more with a name like “best chocolate in town”? If you’re not a chocolate fan, try the Frittle.
INDY_Debrand Fine Chocolate_Spooky Sundae_OCT2024

The ghost truffle by itself might be more Halloween bucket-friendly.

DeBrand Fine Chocolates | The Spooktacular Sundae is back. This creepy creation features a pool of chocolate and caramel that forms a spiderweb, plus a milk chocolate dish of vanilla ice cream. It’s topped with a dollop of peanut butter and a smidgen of raspberry + haunted by a peanut butter ghost truffle that sits on top.

Lick | Nothing says fall like a Pumpkin Oatmeal Crisp flavor that will transport you to Brown County and cozy holiday dinners. This ice cream is made with real pumpkin, all the best fall spices, butter, and gluten free oats.

Cavity Factory | We don’t want to get a cavity for Halloween, but these cookies are hard to resist — like the Halloween Circus Animal cookie with white chocolate and frosted circus animal cookies.

Have a favorite local treat that is fall or Halloween themed? Drop it in our bucket.

Get ready to go upside, inside out with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as they perform “La Vida Loca,” a celebration of Latin pop’s greatest hits from the nineties and early aughts.

If you’re like us, you can already hear the song’s iconic trumpet riff in your head. Bop along in person on Friday, Nov. 8, or Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.

Bonus: There will be an additional performance on Friday at 11 a.m., which is part of the symphony’s Coffee Pops series.

Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez and trumpet player José Sibaja have created new arrangements to favorites from Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Estefan, Santana, Ricky Martin, and more. The symphony will also be joined by vocalists Ender Thomas and Jackie Mendez.

So if you’re into superstitions then we have a premonition: You’re going to fall for this performance — okay, we’re done now.

    The Wrap

    Today’s edition by: Nicole

For my birthday last weekend, I glamped in Brown County and it was everything I could’ve hoped for. It was nice to unplug, get some fresh air, and spend time in nature. The leaves weren’t quite as changed yet because it was still early, but the views were beautiful regardless.
