Whether you’re a sports fanatic — or just look good in blue — when it comes to sports, Indy has no shortage of teams to support. Our city is home to some of the most loyal fans in the country. Indy has even been named the No. 10 best city to be a sports fan by Bleacher Report.
In this guide, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about Circle City sports, so whether you’re already a devoted Hoosier sports fan or you’re new to the area, we hope it can serve as a valuable resource.
🏒 Indy Fuel (ECHL) | Est. 2013
The Indy Fuel is a minor league ice hockey team that was founded in 2013 and began playing in the 2014-2015 season. The team is affiliated with the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.
The Fishers Freight are a professional indoor football team, a member of the Indoor Football League. The Freight will begin play in March 2025. The team will play eight regular season games at home and 16 games total.
The new Fishers Event Center will be the team’s home field. The 7,500 capacity venue will open its doors this month.

The team is owned by Jim Hallett, owner of the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.
The brand is heavily inspired by the Nickel Plate Road + the colors portray the same colors donned by the Nickel Plate Road train that last rumbled through the streets of Indianapolis in 2015.

We can’t think of a better way to ring in the season than with a stage adaptation of the timeless classic, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” at Clowes Memorial Hall on Monday, Nov. 25.
Hoosiers can experience a family-friendly evening with the Peanuts characters in their journey to uncover the true meaning of Christmas.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will open its first Indiana location in the Fishers District on Thursday, Nov. 7. It features 100+ dishes served on a conveyor belt system with customers paying by the plate. Diners can also play games and rack up prizes.

The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon will mark its 17th anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 9, with the half and full marathon start at 8 a.m. Online registration is still available for the 5K and Marathon in a Month. Get all the details to plan ahead, including traffic closures. (WTHR)

That magical moment is quickly approaching when one lucky child will have the opportunity to “flip the switch” at the Downtown Indy, Inc. Circle of Lights on Friday, Nov. 29 (the day after Thanksgiving). Children ages 3-12 can enter the AES Indiana Coloring Contest, which runs Nov. 1-17,for a chance to be a part of the holiday celebration.
Plan Ahead
In just a couple weeks, holiday staple Carmel Christkindlmarkt will return from Saturday, Nov. 23 to Tuesday, Dec. 24. There will be 100+ entertainment acts, German artisans and vendors, themed market days, and ice skating of course. Advance tickets are already available online.

More than 20 Hoosier chefs are getting ready to represent Team Indiana in the World Food Championships, coming to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Nov. 8-12. The tournament features some of the best chefs from Indiana and far beyond.

I was at the Fashion Mall over the weekend, and they were already playing Christmas music in the stores. I can’t believe the holidays are almost here.
