It’s a new era. The Indy Fuel are hitting the ice for the first time at the team’s new home — Fishers Event Center — when the puck drops at 7 p.m. tomorrow night.

The team will take on their divisional opponent, the Iowa Heartlanders, in this historic game. The Fuel will play 36 regular season games at home + 72 games total.

The recently opened venue features a 7,500-seat capacity and will serve as home to three local professional sports teams: Indy Fuel (ECHL), Indy Ignite (Pro Volleyball), and Fishers Freight (Indoor Football). It will also offer an intimate setting for the community to experience shows, concerts, and private events.

News Notes

Weather

Stay weather aware, Indy. By this morning’s rush hour, look for temperatures near 12º, sub-zero wind chills, and dicey driving in some spots — there may even be some school delays. The weather is expected to get better by the weekend, with Friday’s high reaching 30º, and 49º + sunny by Sunday. (WTHR)

Development

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is planning to spend tens of millions of dollars to overhaul Hilbert Circle Theatre on Monument Circle over the next few years. Renovations will include a new rooftop event space + outdoor terrace, a revamp of lounge areas, and a new covered walkway and entryway. See the renderings. (IBJ)

Coming Soon

Terra Gaucha is bringing the best of Southern Brazil to Indy. The authentic churrasco-style restaurant — featuring grilled meats carved tableside + a gourmet selection of hot and cold dishes — is expanding with a new location across from the Fashion Mall opening on Friday, Dec. 13.

Number

106,528. That’s how many Pacers Bikeshare trips there have been so far this year — making this the busiest year since 2015 (which had 114,542 trips) and the second busiest year ever. 3,314 people have redeemed the IndyRides Free pass for Marion County residents + have taken at least one trip with it.
Imagine going to Long’s Donuts and running into two local legends. Indiana native and former TV host David Letterman was spotted with the Fever’s Caitlin Clark filming for “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.” There’s no word on the episode’s release date yet. (WRTV)

Sports

The Pacers lost by double digits again on Tuesday night — this time against the Toronto Raptors. What went wrong, especially in the first 15 minutes? Locked On host Tony East breaks it down, including turnovers, defense, and more.

Show

From famed Broadway musical “Elf” to an immersive experience featuring 15 musicians playing 20+ instruments at Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, the Butler Arts and Events Center has a spectacular lineup of seasonal performances. Pick your performance (or seven).*

Arts

We recently got a sneak peek of “Preston Singletary’s Raven and the Box of Daylight,” a critically acclaimed exhibition currently on display at the Eiteljorg Museum. Featuring 60+ Native American glass sculptures, it brings to life the story of the Raven from Tlingit oral tradition. Immerse yourself in the exhibition.*

Shop

We’ll let you in on a little secret. Purchase an e-gift card from Huse Culinary with a value of $125 or more through Tuesday, Dec. 31 and receive a 20% bonus. Holiday shopping just got easieryou can thank us later.*

Answered

The debate has begun: Real tree or fake tree?

Turns out Hoosiers are pretty split between having a real Christmas tree or fake tree. 51.5% of our readers voted for a fake tree + 48.5% opt for a real tree.

We asked for fun traditions and one of you said, “Every year, my husband and I buy one new ornament each. It has to be themed to something that happened during the year. This year we bought Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z because we finished watching it.”
