Who among us hasn’t taken a drive down Meridian Street and wondered what all the massive estates look like on the inside? We did some digging to give you a peek at some of the city’s most expensive real estate.
4137 N. Meridian St. This stunning 6,822-sqft home sold earlier this year and is filled with top-notch craftsmanship dating back to 1917, from an imported Italian stone fireplace to a solarium painted by Randolph LaSalle Coats.
4270 N. Meridian St. Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Booth Tarkington lived in this 9,000-sqft English Tudor-style house from 1923 through 1946. It sits on a one-acre lot that includes a pond, gardens, and a five bedroom carriage house.
5. E. 71st St. This 21,000-sqft, 40-room mansion was built in 1937 and hit the market for the first time in 2023. It was home to Olympic gold medalist Frank McKinney, Jr. and later Randall Tobias, Eli Lilly chairman and CEO. Take a video tour.
