Maybe the stormy weather has kept you cooped up inside with no choice but to start your spring cleaning. You’ve swept, scrubbed, disinfected, and decluttered.

Now, the hard part: What to do with it all? Here are a few places where you can donate items, help locals in need, and support community causes.

Wheeler Mission
With seven donation barns + five ministry locations that all accept drop-offs, donating to Wheeler Mission is simple.

Coburn Place
This group doesn’t accept clothing but has a variety of other needs, including household goods, appliances, food, and personal care items. Make sure you make an appointment.

News Notes

Weather

On average, central Indiana gets ~4 inches of rain in April — but in just a week, we’ve already doubled that. Yesterday, many rivers reached their highest point + flood warnings remained in effect. Be weather aware as more rain is possible later this week. (WTHR)

Traffic

The city launched an online tool to report and track dangerous streets and intersections. It’s part of the Vision Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and make Indy more walkable and bike-friendly. Learn more and give feedback tomorrow, April 9 at the Lawrence Library Branch from 4 to 6 p.m. (WRTV)

Development

The city broke ground on a $6.8 million project at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, which will include a new plaza, walkways, landscaping, and expansion of the existing Landmark for Peace monument at the park. It’s scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Cause

The Indy Art Center announced an $8.8 million campaign to renovate its Marilyn K. Glick School of Art building + outdoor Artspark in Broad Ripple. To help reach the fundraising goal, members of the board plan to match every donated dollar up to $100,000. Learn more. (IBJ)

Sports

The Pacers didn’t have Pascal Siakam and got just nine points from Tyrese Haliburton — yet they beat the mighty Denver Nuggets. How? Locked On host Tony East breaks it down.

    The Wrap

VIP sips? Yes, please. Parlor’s Spring Pre-Launch Tasting event sounds fun. I’m eyeing the strawberry pistachio matcha + guava apricot espresso tonic.

We want to know where your Indy lore started. Here’s what one reader said:

“In honor of my 10-year Indy-versary this year, I definitely had to write to you all about where my Indy lore began!

I was 22 and living near Broad Ripple, working in an office right behind the Fashion Mall... so I truly thought I was getting the best of Naptown lol. (When you are new to a city from a smaller, rural town, everything feels bigger and more exciting.)

I discovered my DEEP love for sushi at Sakura and I loved going to resale shops like Simply Chic or The Toggery. [...]

Moving to a new city can be intimidating, but it was exactly what I needed to get out of my comfort zone, experience life, and become my own person!

Cheers to all the memories, Indy, and one million more to come!” — Sarah C.
