In the spirit of supporting all things local, we’ve rounded up eight farmers markets in the Indy area where you’ll find fresh food, live music, and local vendors.
Parking: Free parking in lot adjacent to the market
Space: The winter market is currently running indoors through April at Broad Ripple Middle School, and then will move outdoors in the parking lot behind Glendale Lowe’s on Saturday, May 3.

Wednesday, April 2 was Indiana’s most active tornado night of the year, with a focus on central Indiana. The National Weather Service confirmed 18 tornadoes statewide — bringing the total to 38 tornadoes so far in 2025. See where they touched down. (WTHR)
Traffic
Southeastern Avenue between South Rural Street + South Sherman Drive has reopened after six train cars derailed, spilling cornstarch. Power lines also reportedly fell near the scene of the derailment, but thankfully there were no injuries. (WTHR)

A taste of Indy’s iconic St. Elmo Steak House is landing at IND. Huse Culinary is blending its brands 1933 Lounge + HC Tavern by St. Elmo for a traveler-friendly experience where guests can get pre-flight cocktails and bites like the famous shrimp cocktail. It opens in Concourse B tomorrow, April 11.
State
Eyes on the road. Indiana State Police are cracking down on distracted driving. Violating the “hands-free” law, which prohibits drivers from holding or using a mobile device while behind the wheel, can result in a fine of up to $500 and points on the driver’s license. (WRTV)

The Broad Ripple Art Fair announced the music lineup for its 53rd annual event on Saturday, May 17-Sunday, May 18. It will feature art from 150+ artists, hands-on interactive artmaking for all ages, and live music from some of Indy’s top artists like Bashiri Asad and The Doo. Get tickets.

Rent Cafe released its list of the top 20 college towns in the US — and two of them are in Indiana. By no surprise to us, West Lafayette + Bloomington ranked No. 6 and No. 11 respectively. See the full list and ranking criteria. (IndyStar)
