From forest trails to al fresco dining, there’s no shortage of things to do in this vibrant city. | Photos provided by Visit Bloomington
Spring fever got you itching for an easy getaway? Head to Bloomington: A vibrant destination bursting with natural beauty, culture, and flavor, just an hour away.
It’s impossible to see and do everything this dynamic city has to offer in one weekend, so we’ve started an itinerary to help you make the most of it:
Hike scenic trails in Hoosier National Forest. Prefer a slower pace? Cast a fishing line at Griffy Lake or rent a pontoon and float across Monroe Lake.
Savor the local food scene, from al fresco dining on 4th Street to farm-to-table delights at renowned restaurants.
Browse colorful murals and local galleries downtown.
Get ready to see more construction cones around Indy. DPW kicked off construction season, which will bring 133 miles of new asphalt, 15 additional miles of bike lanes, 30+ miles added to trail systems, and ~15 miles of new sidewalks. (WTHR)
Sports
It was pure domination from the Pacers in Game 4 last night, defeating the Cavaliers 129-109. The Blue + Gold tied the NBA record for the largest halftime lead in playoff history, 41. Now the team leads 3-1 with a chance to close out the series tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Cleveland.
Open
There’s another location to pick up your meal prep. Herculean Prepared Meals opened a new storefront at 2001 E. Greyhound Pass, Ste. 9A in Carmel. It’s open Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Coming Soon
A new bagel shop is coming to Zionsville this summer. Bloomington-based Gables Bagels plans to open a 1,560-sqft shop at 270 S. Main St. with outdoor seating. It will offer bagels, breakfast + lunch sandwiches, and sides. There’s no word on an opening date yet. (IBJ)
Development
The soccer stadium saga continues. Last week, the Capital Improvement Board confirmed they have started working on the design of a possible stadium downtown. The Indianapolis Airport Authority has also been given approval to close the Indianapolis Heliport, which is in the area Mayor Hogsett proposed for the soccer stadium. (WTHR)

A cotton wrap dress that boasts an elegant halter neckline and chic wrapping at the waist. We love it for summer grill outs, casual afternoons by the beach, and warm weather weekend hangouts.
I love the Indiana Peony Festival. How could you not love a festival that’s full of stunning florals everywhere? But I’ll be honest, last year was a bit less enjoyable for me just because of how crowded it was. It made it hard to even look at any of the vendors, so I’m glad they’ve adjusted it this year to spread things out more.
