Did you search “Coldplay cheating scandal memes” this year? So did the rest of the US — but this is what Hoosiers were googling on a more local level. | Photo by @rivvidproductions, graphic via 6AM City
Google’s 2025 Year in Search is out, and its local search function provides an interesting peek into our city’s queries. Take a look at what we were searching most this year.
  • Top trending songs | It was a huge year for “KPop Demon Hunters.” “Golden” by HUNTR/X took the top spot, with “Soda Pop” by Saja Boys ringing in at No. 4. Sadly, no local artists made the list — but you can always remedy that.
  • Top ticket search | Above all else, Hoosiers were trying to go to the Indiana Pacers Watch Party. Interestingly, tickets to the actual NBA Finals themselves ranked at No. 4.
  • “What does [slang] mean?” | “67" was the most puzzling trend that had Hoosiers turning to Google for answers.

  • Perry Park: Playground and hardcourt improvements
  • Thompson Park: Playground, trails, and site updates
  • Garfield Park: Sunken garden fountain repairs plus playground + pagoda upgrades

News Notes

Real Estate

History alert: The oldest house in Indianapolis is for sale. The William Sanders Home was built in 1820 and has been lovingly updated while retaining its historic charm — see for yourself or learn more about its past. Psst… the price will shock you.

Development

A year and a half after first announcing plans to bring a MLS team to Indy, the city has voted to begin pre-construction plans with local builder Shiel Sexton. Construction would not start until all property is purchased + funding and legislative approvals are secured. (IndyStar)

Need some help clearing your sidewalk when it snows, or love shoveling so much you’d do it twice? Check out Snow Buddies, a DPW program that matches snow-clearing volunteers with nearby neighbors to make sure everyone can leave their home safely. (WTHR)

Pets

Below freezing weather may be behind us for now, but our pets are still vulnerable to the cold temps. Here’s who to call if you see a dog or cat left outside and in distress. (IndyStar)

Eat

Weather like this makes us want a bottomless bowl of ramen — which is perfect timing, because Kyuramen is offering a dine-in Endless Ramen deal from Monday, Dec. 22 to Sunday, Dec. 28. Check hours so you can plan your all-day feast.

You can find these stores around local shopping centers today, but first, let’s pay homage to Indy’s original mall heydays. (Business Insider)

The Buy

Our favorite way to stay warm in the winter? With a little added heat. We love this heated vest that provides up to 12 hours of continuous heat with a battery that doubles as a power bank. We pair it with these top-rated rechargeable hand warmers on extra chilly days.

The Wrap

Don’t have plans for NYE yet? If your idea of a good time centers more on food and less on alcohol, grab one of the last remaining dinner reservations at Daisy Bar. Their special menu leaves absolutely nothing to be desired — I’m eyeing the tuna ssambap and the miso caramel chocolate tart.
