As we wrap up 2023, you may already be thinking about planning vacations for 2024. Next year has a lot in store — especially in Indy, so you may want to plan some staycations instead.
Airbnb released its travel predictions for the new year + Indianapolis made the top spot among 24 of the top trending global destinations to set sights on — citing Indy’s position in the path of totality of the solar eclipse in April.
Indy was also recognized by AARP: The Magazine as one of eight top affordable US Destinations for 2024 and The Points Guy named Indy as one of the Best Places to Travel in 2024.
Although the total solar eclipse is a once-in-a-lifetime event, the city is also hosting plenty of other big events that will draw people from all over the world in 2024.
NBA All-Star Game
The Pacers will host the first NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis since 1985, with the action taking place Feb. 16-18.
Events will be taking place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium. It includes the Rising Stars game featuring top rookies and up-and-comers, the skills competition on Saturday, Feb. 17, and The All-Star game scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18 at Gainbridge. Get tickets.
Olympic Swimming Trials
Indianapolis will host the 2024 US Olympic Team Swimming Trials June 15-23 at Lucas Oil Stadium — where the event will be staged on a football field for the first time ever. Hundreds of thousands of families, friends, and fans are expected to watch US Olympians compete for selection to represent Team USA in Paris. Get tickets.
Taylor Swift Eras Tour
Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” is coming to Indianapolis in November 2024 + the star is set to perform for three nights at Lucas Oil Stadium (Nov. 1-3). The concert tour is expected to bring thousands of people and millions of dollars to Indianapolis. Hotels like the JW Marriott downtown are already sold out for the concert dates.
