How’s your summer reading list coming along? Indianapolis Public Library is making sure it stays stacked with the annual Summer Reading Program, underway now through Wednesday, July 31.
What you read and how you read (audio books, e-books, books from home, books from the library, etc.) is up to you.
Finishing a good book is a reward in itself, but prizes are up for grabs. Reading isn’t just for kids — the Indianapolis Public Library even has a program for adults.

A trip to the library is a nice date idea for a couple of bookworms.

How it works
- Register via IPL’s website, in the Beanstack app, or in person at a library branch.
- Log your hours read and track activities completed. Use Beanstack or the library’s paper trackers to measure reading progress. You can pick up paper reading trackers at any IPL location, or you can download and print one from home. There is an early literacy tracker for children ages 0-5 and a tracker for children ages 6-18.
- Redeem your prizes + get entries for the gift card drawings. Prizes can be redeemed at any IPL location; all you have to do is show your progress + choose your prize.
Prizes are earned at 1 hour, 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, and 20 hours of reading for kids and 1 hour and 20 hours for adults. Kids can earn a bonus prize when they complete seven Discover Activities. Adults must complete four of nine Activity Challenges. Prizes include books, snacks, toys, passes to Indians baseball or IU Indy basketball games, Lou Malnati’s pizza coupons, and museum passes.
If the community as a whole reaches 18 million minutes read, all readers who log time will be eligible for grand prizes.
