There’s something pretty fly happening in Indy. This week (June 19-25) is Pollinator Week .
In case you didn’t know , pollinators are animals that help in a plant’s reproductive process of pollination — including insects and wildlife such as bees, butterflies, beetles, hummingbirds, and bats.
The following events aim to teach community members how to preserve + protect these crucial members of our environment:
- Celebrate Pollinator Week | Saturday, June 24 | 1 p.m. | Indiana Dunes National Park, Porter, IN | Free, Park admission | Enjoy hikes, a pollinator/native gardening talk, a Junior Pollinator worksheet + arts and crafts.
- Buzzing Bees | Saturday, June 24 | 12:30-1 p.m. | Fort Harrison State Park, 6000 N. Post Rd., Indianapolis | Free, Park admission | Learn about how important bees are to our society and find a new homemade way for you to help improve bee populations.
- Cultivating Minds Garden Series: Pollinator & Wildlife Gardening | Saturday, July 22 | 2 p.m. | Garfield Park Conservatory, 2505 Conservatory Dr., Indianapolis | Free | Learn about gardening for pollinators + the benefits of pollinators from a naturalist.
