The first day of spring is this Sun., March 20 + we’re getting you in mood for all things green with details on the brand-new plant event “Plant Stop Won’t Stop.”
This inaugural gathering involves a mix of buying, trading, showcasing, and community building.
Plant Shop
Have you botany plants lately? A variety of local businesses will be selling their wares, including house plants, handmade pottery, 3D printed goods, and macrame at a large outdoor market. Growing Places Indy will be having a garden plant sale, as well.
Plant Swap
There will be two large plant swaps planned for the community to bring their plants, seeds + cuttings to trade with other plant parents. The deadline to register is Sun., May 1 and those participating are encouraged to bring a donation so no one leaves without a trade.
Pro tip: If you’d like to participate in the plant swap, make sure to select it from the registration drop-down menu to secure your spot.
Planty Pageant
“I beg your garden?” Yes, you read that right. Hosted by Plant Stop Won’t Stop Queen Brooklyn Burroughs, participants will don their plantiest fits and walk the runway with their very own showstopper plant. The registration deadline is Sun., May 1 and finalists will be chosen by the Plant Stop Won’t Stop Committee live at the event.
Since it’s a competition, the winner will walk away with $300 in prizes. That could buy you a lot of Monstera and Donkey Tails.
Food will be available from Futuro Pizza and La Margarita, with beverages from Centerpoint Brewing and 8th Day Distillery. DJ Dickey Foxx and friends will be playing tunes throughout the day.
The event is on Sat., May 21 at the Circle City Industrial Complex (1125 E. Brookside Ave.) and you can poppy in anytime between 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Free registration is open now.
