Diversify your taste buds during Devour Indy Winterfest 2023

Indy’s biggestlocal dining event, Devour Indy, is back for Winterfest starting Monday, Jan. 23 and running through Sunday Feb. 5. More than 100 restaurants are participating by offering special three-course menus at a discounted price.

Asian / Japanese
Ramen Ray, 5628 E. 71st St. Winter is unofficial ramen season — and this spot specializes in traditional-style ramen from Hokkaido, Japan with a simple and homey atmosphere. Enjoy two entrees, one order of gyoza, and one dessert to serve two for $36.
Modita, 850 Mass Ave., Ste. 110
The Asian-inspired eatery in the Bottleworks District offers lots of options for $35 per person. City Editor Nicole wants to try the Chicken Pho Noodles and is excited to go back for the Yuzu Bar, which has been featured on Modita’s Devour menu before.

City officials are planning to acquire the Drake apartment building (3060 N. Meridian St.) from The Children’s Museum in an effort topreserve the 95-year-old building. The Department of Metropolitan Development plans to ask for permission this week to purchase the 0.8-acre property. A purchase price and timeline have not yet been finalized. 🏢 (IBJ)
Mayor Hogsett and city officials announced an initiative that aims to combat gentrification and displacement in low-income neighborhoods. Hoosier taxpayers could see a decrease in their refunds by a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. The average tax refund last year was nearly $3,200 because of COVID-related stimulus checks and child tax credits that will not apply this year. A $5 million investment in Kennedy-King
Kennedy-King Memorial site granted $5 million for improvements

The park features the Landmark for Peace memorial, Still We Reach exhibit, a playground, outdoor pool, and performance shelter.
Improvements and new amenities to the site will include:
Celebration and event plaza
Eternal flame artwork with interpretative panels
New pavilion area along the walkways
Expanded parking
Connection to the new pedestrian pathway (along North Park Avenue)
New walkways and seating areas
This investment is in addition to the $80 million in grants for Indy Parks recently announced.
