What’s the tea on boba tea?

If you haven’t heard of it, it can also be referred to as bubble tea or milk tea. No matter what you call it, it’s been popping up around Indy over the last few years.

We think it’s tea-licious, so come oolong as we list eight bubble tea spots around the Circle City.

Tsaocaa, 530 Mass Ave. + 6386 E. 82nd St.

This tea shop is brand new to Mass Ave. and took over the former Latea location. City Editor Nicole tried the peach tea with nata jelly.

From Fountain Square to Keystone, Harmony serves up quali-tea drinks all across Indy. Harmony has locations in Greenwood, Whitestown, and Merrillville in the works too.

This shop opened in February 2023 and features an open kitchen concept where you can watch the boba being made by hand. We recommend trying the signature brown sugar boba milk tea here.

While strolling around Monument Circle this summer, stop in for a milk or fruit tea drink.

Traditional Japanese comfort food is the specialty at this spot, with 11 boba tea options to choose from.

HoiTEA ToiTEA, 8702 Keystone Crossing

Located inside the Fashion Mall, you can get a tea latte with chewy boba or a tea lemonade fruity bursting boba to sip on while you shop.

City taking over financing of hotel development at Pan Am Plaza

A rendering of the new project exterior
You won’t be able to miss this new development when it’s complete in a couple of years. | Rendering via RATIO Design
You may recall this project from our list of “8 developments to watch out for” this year. Well, here’s the latest on Pan Am’s developing story.

The City of Indianapolis is now taking over the financing of Kite Realty Group Trust’s redevelopment of Pan Am Plaza — which originally included two hotels, 50,000 sqft of meeting space, a skybridge, and more than 1,400 rooms.

The plan anticipates a price tag of at least $510 million, if not more, to build a 40-story Signia by Hilton hotel tower on the site starting this summer — which the city will now own.

In addition to the city financing + ownership change, plans for a second hotel at the site have been tabled for now. The rest of the plan for the Indiana Convention Center expansion and the sky-scraping hotel largely remains the same.

A ceremonial groundbreaking is set for this summer + the project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2026.

If you couldn’t tell, I tend to go for the fruity drinks over milk tea. My favorites are the Strawberry Mocktail from Harmony and the Lychee Punch from Kung Fu Tea.
