Where to get a new tattoo on Friday the Thirteenth
Tattoo artist @InkbyH decorates his wall with the tattoo design + photo of each of his clients — can you spot City Editor Nicole? | Photo by INDYtoday team
Friday the 13th — a superstitious day for some, but Black Friday for tattoo enthusiasts. Getting inked on Friday the 13th is a longstanding tradition in the tattoo community. Basically, shops will offer an array of flash tattoos (pre-drawn artwork) for a discounted price — some shops offering the ink as low as $13.
Not every shop participates in the holiday, but we found a handful that are gearing up for the big day. Pro tip: Get to the shop early.
I couldn’t wait until October 13 to get a new tattoo. A few years ago, I started a tradition of getting a tattoo for my birthday — so last Thursday, I saw H. at The Mandala Effect to get my second birthday tattoo by him.
This year, I decided to get a modified version of an unalome tattoo. I really like the meaning behind it and it represents that life isn’t a straight line. There will be twists, turns, ups, and downs — similar to how this past year has felt for me.
