Development
  • Earlier this week, the city of Indianapolis said that the redevelopment project at downtown’s Pan Am Plaza would cost around $752 million — but has updated that figure to ~$1.6 billion. The increase reflects the total debt the city will owe on hundreds of millions of dollars in bonds. (IBJ)

Real Estate
  • A recently renovated single-family home in the Lockerbie Square neighborhood hit the market for $1.15 million. The 3,200-sqft home features a modern + sophisticated design with a 1,500-sqft rooftop deck that spans the entirety of the home and garage. Take a look. (WISH)

If you’ve lived in the Butler-Tarkington area or even just driven down Michigan Road north of Newfields, you’ve probably seen a large gate with a towering wall. That gate, which was once closed to the public, is now officially open.

The $14 million estate formerly owned by the late philanthropist, businesswoman, and community leader Christel DeHaan is now an RH gallery and restaurant.

The estate is one of the most accurate Palladian-style villas ever built in the US, with 60+ rooms. It also features a wine bar + terrace that opens up to a 35-acre private lake and gardens, as well as an interior design studio and artistic installations.

RH Indianapolis, The Gallery at the DeHaan Estate is located on ~150 acres at 4501 N. Michigan Rd. and is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.

You have to see it to believe it, but check out our Instagram for a sneak peek inside.

From the editor
The DeHaan Estate is truly remarkable. Viewing the property and sitting in the dining area — I was in awe the entire time. It’s hard to believe you’re in Indianapolis. Personally, I think visiting the wine bar and restaurant would make a perfect date night. Pro tip: You’ll want to make a reservation.
