One of our favorite ways to beat the freeze — and keep our belts in place during holiday dinners? Joining a holiday-themed run.

Here are a few trots around town where you can satisfy your need for speed this winter.

Turkey trots

Drumstick Dash | Thursday, Nov. 27 | 9 a.m. | Broad Ripple | $39 | Move your feet so others can eat. Choose from a 4.3 mile or 2.6 mile course.

Indianapolis Turkey Trot 5K | Thursday, Nov. 27 | 8:30 a.m. | Crown Hill Cemetery | $20 | No planning ahead needed here. Registration takes place the morning of your walk or run, and all proceeds benefit the Crown Hill Heritage Foundation.

Turkey Burn | Thursday, Nov. 27 | 9-11 a.m. | Freedom Park, Greenwood | $15+ | Gather your family, friends, and arch rivals for this fun 5K for adults and kids in support of The Refuge.

The Gravy Chase benefiting The Boys & Girls Club of Boone County takes place in both Zionsville and Lebanon.

Gravy Chase | Thursday, Nov. 27 | 8:30 a.m. | Main + Cedar Street, Zionsville | $40+ | The race is entering its ninth year as a Thanksgiving Day tradition through historic downtown Zionsville with a 2.2-mile walk or 4-mile run to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County.

Gobble Gallop 5K | Thursday, Nov. 27 | 8-10 a.m. | Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, Avon | $40 | Give back one gallop at a time in support of YMCA memberships and programs.

Glühwein Gallop 5K | Saturday, Dec. 20 | 9-11 a.m. | Carmel Christkindlmarkt | $36 | This scenic run starts and finishes at the beloved festival + includes a costume contest and warm mulled wine after the race.

Santa Hustle | Sunday, Dec. 14 | 8:30 a.m. | White River State Park | $25+ | Join a 5K, half marathon, or kids dash in support of local charities.

Candy Cane Course | Sunday, Dec. 21 | 9 a.m. | White River State Park | $22+ | Go all out and run a 5K or 12K — or if you’re here for the costumes over the cardio, take a leisurely one-mile run instead.

Polar Bear Winter Classic | Saturday, Feb. 28 | 8:30-11 a.m. | Fowling Warehouse | $40+ | Join this 43rd annual race with a unique twist. Opt for a 5K run, a 5-mile run, or The Bear (5K + 5 miles) — the challenge allows you to run both distances for a total of 8.1 miles.
