We get it, it can be difficult to make friends as an adult, especially if you’re new to the city. We’ve even stumbled upon several Reddit threads asking about this, so hey friends, we’re here to help.

There are several groups in Indy that are focused on bringing people together, building community, and creating opportunities for people to make friends in the city.

Hot Walk Indy

Hot Walk Indy is a social walking club “for the girls, gays + theys.” The group has already hosted 30+ organized walks and social gatherings all around the city. During the colder months, they’ve used the downtown skywalks to stay warm. Come solo or bring pals. Either way, you won’t walk alone. Connect with the group on Instagram, Facebook, or join its GroupMe chat for the details on the next walk.

Silent Book Club Indy

If you love to read, then this is for you. Silent Book Club is a monthly book club that meets over drinks. Bring what you’re currently reading and hang out — no book assignment. Come alone or bring friends. It’s free and open to the public, but you must get a ticket on Eventbrite in advance. The next meetup is Monday, March 4.

November Project

If you’re into fitness or just want an accountability buddy to help you stay active, November Project is a free outdoor workout club that meets downtown on Wednesday and Friday mornings — “just show up.” Follow the group on social media to find out the location for Friday mornings. They meet at the Indiana War Memorial on Wednesdays.

Are you part of another social group that we didn’t mention?
Give it a shoutout.
