We get it, it can be difficult to make friends as an adult, especially if you’re new to the city. We’ve even stumbled upon several Reddit threads asking about this, so hey friends, we’re here to help.

There are several groups in Indy that are focused on bringing people together, building community, and creating opportunities for people to make friends in the city.

BFF Indy

This group on social media is all about women creating friendships in the Circle City. It recently launched in January and has several upcoming events including a Galentine’s Get Together on Saturday, Feb. 17, a Mom Meet Up on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and Book Club on Wednesday, Feb. 28. Follow them on Instagram.

November Project

If you’re into fitness or just want an accountability buddy to help you stay active, November Project is a free outdoor workout club that meets downtown on Wednesday and Friday mornings — “just show up.” Follow the group on social media to find out the location for Friday mornings. They meet at the Indiana War Memorial on Wednesdays.

Young Professionals of Central Indiana (YPCI)

YPCI is a networking group for young professionals in the Indianapolis area with more than 600 members. The organization aims to connect, empower, and help shape Indy’s next generation of leaders. You can become a member for $75 per month for free access to its events or you can get tickets to its monthly Coffee at the Top and Happy Hour events for $10-$15 per event.

Hot Walk Indy

Hot Walk Indy is a social walking club “for the girls, gays + theys.” The group has already hosted 30+ organized walks and social gatherings all around the city. During the colder months, they’ve used the downtown skywalks to stay warm. Come solo or bring pals. Either way, you won’t walk alone. Connect with the group on Instagram, Facebook, or join its GroupMe chat for the details on the next walk.

Let’s Be Friends

Formerly called “Bumble BFF Indianapolis,” this social group has created a community of 2,900+ women and hosts all kinds of gatherings to connect and make friends with similar interests. Recent events have included a Galentine’s class at Orange Theory, a crochet circle, a board game night, and a coffee + chat session. Follow along on Instagram or Facebook.

The City Moms

It can be hard to make friends as a mom, too — we know you have a lot on your plate. The City Moms has been around for 11 years and is a free community for local moms. With 1,500+ members, it’s the perfect time to surround yourself with a village ready to rally around you with love. Join the community.

Silent Book Club Indy

If you love to read, then this is for you. Silent Book Club is a monthly book club that meets over drinks. Bring what you’re currently reading and hang out — no book assignment. Come alone or bring friends. It’s free and open to the public, but you must get a ticket on Eventbrite in advance. The next meetup is Monday, March 4.

Are you part of another social group that we didn’t mention? Give it a shoutout.
