Ready for a slam dunk week? You can experience the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament hosted by IUPUI and the Horizon League on Friday, March 22 + Sunday, March 24 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
This past Sunday, the bracket was released for the tournament and ICYMI: Purdue University landed the No. 1 seed in the Midwestern Region and will play at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday. The Boilermakers (29-4) will play either Grambling State or Montana State, who will face each other Wednesday in the First Four play-in round in Dayton, Ohio.
Here’s the full schedule of teams that will face off in Indy:
7:25 p.m. - (16) Grambling/Montana St. vs. (1) Purdue
9:55 p.m. - (9) TCU vs. (8) Utah State
Sunday, March 24
Second round game times and matchups will be announced after the conclusion of Friday’s games. Get Sunday tickets.
If you’re going to a game, be sure to head downtown early to give yourself plenty of time to find parking. Pro tip: You’ll also want to travel light. Gainbridge Fieldhouse’s bag policy only allows small clutch-style purses.
Can’t make the games or don’t want to shell out the money for tickets? You can cheer on your favorite teams at Fan Zone on Bicentennial Unity Plaza next to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. All weekend long, you can enjoy food and drinks from local vendors, live music, giveaways, and interactive games like knockout competitions from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free + there’s no ticket required.

George Thorogood & the Destroyers will headline this year’s Carb Day concert on Friday, May 24 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Indiana DNR is getting ready for fishing season by stocking more than 2,000 channel catfish in 10 lakes and ponds in the state, including several in central Indiana. The fish range from 10 to 14 inches in length. See the stock list. (WTHR)

The IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center announced it will expand its lung cancer research efforts after receiving a gift of $20 million from the family of Indy auto executive Tom Wood, who died of the disease in 2010.
