Take a breezy staycation in these fun local Airstreams

In its heyday, Airstreams were the epitome of traveling in style — shiny, sleek, comfortable, and towable. Founder Wally Byam first got the wheels turning for the timeless trailers in 1929 when his wife Marion expressed her exasperation with tent camping.
He began experimenting with toppers for a Model T chassis, starting with canvas before opting for metal, and decided it was “a pretty good business to get into.” Wally was right, and like his last name, people started to buy em.
Whether you have a taste for nostalgia or simply don’t have a vehicle with a hitch, here are a couple places in central Indiana to live out your Airstream daydream.
Enjoy stimulating conversation or a good book with this Airstream’s private outdoor oasis.
This remodeled, peaceful 1971 Airstream is surrounded by comfy outdoor seating, AstroTurf grass, a propane fire pit, strings of Edison lights, and a hot tub. It’s also within biking distance to Broad Ripple Village and The Monon Trail, with two bikes included for use during your stay.
Nature lovers will be in heaven at this brand new Airstream that sits right on the White River. Kayaks are provided, and you’ll also have access to a fire pit and half basketball court, while remaining just a quick drive away from downtown.
Hop on the river any time with the kayaks provided by this rental.
Just over an hour from the heart of Indy is this 2021 Airstream with every modern convenience you could imagine. You’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the idyllic fields and garden surrounding the trailer and can even tour the host’s 31' Sovereign Airstream from 1971 that’s in the middle of being remodeled.
Want to really unplug? Check into this Airstream named Emilene, where cell service and Wi-Fi connection aren’t on the menu. Instead, you can relax in hammocks, brew incredible coffee using the five different methods provided in the kitchen, or explore nearby Nashville, IN.

Hello, Indianapolis. I’m a national content editor at 6AM City, INDYtoday’s parent company, and I’ve seen quite a few state fairs in my time working in this role.
I can tell the Indiana State Fair is going to be a blast, but my eye immediately went to the $5 value menu. I’m all about tasting as much as possible without breaking the bank.
