  • Stay cool, Indy. Central Indiana will feel record heat today and tomorrow with an excessive heat watch issued. The heat index is expected to range between 105-110 degrees. Check our guide for pools and splash pads that may still be open. (WTHR)

  • Reader’s Digest crowned BRICS (aka Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station) the best ice cream in Indiana. It cited this former train station a must-visit because it offers more than 40 flavors and a dozen toppings.
Concert
  • The end of summer doesn’t mean concert season is over. There are some big names that are scheduled to perform at Ruoff Music Center this fall. See the list. (IndyStar)

  • Indianapolis-based foundation Lilly Endowment Inc. is set to give the official nonprofit of the National Park Service a record $100 million gift. The money will be used to address the needs of the country’s 400+ national park sites. (WISH)

  • What was supposed to be a one-day Clear the Shelters event turned into a three-day event because it was so successful. The Humane Society for Hamilton County announced that 139 pets were adopted over the weekend. The shelter continued the $10 adoptions through Monday. (WTHR)

    BUTTER Fine Art Fair is back for its fourth year

    BUTTER is back for its fourth year. In case you haven’t heard, it’s a multi-day fine arts fair organized by local cultural development + creative advocacy firm GANGGANG.

    The art fair will showcase work from more than 50 Indiana-based and national artists including Aaron Coleman, April Bey, Faith Blackwell, Kyng Rhodes, and Rebekah Gaillard.

    Again this year, the fine art fair will be held at the historic Stutz complex at 1060 N. Capitol Ave. The weekend’s schedule is as follows:
    • Friday, Aug. 30 | Opening Day and Night | 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    • Saturday, Aug. 31 | 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with MELT 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
    • Sunday, Sept. 1 | 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
