⛳️ It’s par-tee time

A professional golfer swings a driver in front of a lively crowd at the "Birdie Shack," a two-story hospitality venue at a LIV Golf tournament. Spectators line the balcony, many with drinks in hand, watching the shot. A leaderboard nearby shows the players Leishman, Koepka, and Grace. The weather is sunny with a bright blue sky.

Hoosiers, we’re in for a hole lotta fun. LIV Golf Indianapolis will tee off Friday, Aug. 15 through Sunday, Aug. 17 at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield.

New to the pro golf tour? Here’s a crash course.

Talk birdie to me

The tournament will feature a fan village with interactive activities and live music from Riley Green and Jason Derulo.

Going fore the win

Indy’s stop on the tour is the Individual Championship finale, which means all 54 players will be vying for a contract for next season.

An above-par experience

Attendees can purchase hospitality packages, which include perks like access to a party deck where fans cheer (and sip) while players tee off.

VCs back startups for outsized returns. Regular people wait. But rule changes fixed that.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 people averaged a $2,370 stake. Today? That’s worth $1 million+, up 89,900%. No wonder 10,000+ people and the same VCs behind Uber and Venmo are taking the chance on Pacaso.

Founded by a former Zillow exec, they’ve earned $110 million+ in gross profit to date. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO. Invest for $2.90/share.‡‡

News Notes

Mansion Monday

Talk about curb appeal — a newly listed home on Central Avenue appears to have been pulled straight from a storybook. Take a peek inside the 5-bed, 5-bathroom residence, which was built in 1927 and features luxuries like a chef’s kitchen, arched doorways, and a boutique-style walk-in closet.

Community

Washington Park just got a major glow-up. Swing by Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the grand opening of new amenities — including an upgraded playground, new splash pad, shelter, event lawn, and more. Trust us: You won’t want to miss it.*

Pets

Yes, you can bring your dog. Indianapolis is the No. 14 most pet-friendly city in the country, per a new WalletHub study. The rankings were compiled using metrics like pet budget, pet health and wellness, and outdoor fun. Our dog-friendly businesses have plenty on offer for Fido.

On This Day

Today marks 159 years since the first public roller skating rink opened to the US public back in 1866. Thankfully, Indy has a lot more options to keep the kiddos entertained these days. (WUN)

Eat

Are Gen Z cereal killers? Sales of the boxed breakfast have fallen by 13% in the US compared to 2021 — a decline attributed to changing preferences in young Americans. But who can blame them when they have local brunch options like this? (New York Post)
“Hot Girl Summer” ruled in 2019. “Brat” summer took over in 2024. Now, this summer has been dubbed “brain rot summer” — a season with no viral anthem, no clear vibe, and scattered cultural chatter. If that makes you want to unplug entirely, touch grass at a local park. (Business Insider)

Stat

2.0%. That’s the percentage of income Indy residents should expect to spend on clothing, based on a study by WalletHub. This outfits Naptown at No. 28 on the site’s list of cities where people spend the most to get dressed (when comparing the 100 largest US cities).

Sports

What were the highlights and lowlights of the Colts’ preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens? Go beyond the scoreboard for the biggest stories on the Indianapolis Colts with Locked On’s daily, team-focused podcasts.

INDYtoday is welcoming a wave of new readers, and we’d bet many of them are also new to Circle City. First of all, hi. We’re happy you’re here.

To show you around town, we’ve rounded up 11 of the most recognizable Indy landmarks. Not only are these local icons easy to remember, but they’ll also get you where you need to go in a jiffy.

Soldiers and Sailors Monument

The iconic structure is only 15 feet shorter than the Statue of Liberty and features some unusual details, like bears.

“Ann Dancing”

When you’re trying to find someone on Mass Ave, we think it’s helpful to say how close you are to this recognizable piece by London artist Julian Opie.

Crown Hill Cemetery

There are 130 different species of trees in the cemetery’s 555 acres. Several noteworthy Hoosiers have been buried there, including John Dillinger.
Keep sightseeing

The Buy
