Cake Picnic is a simple concept. Friends and strangers alike gather in a public park to share food, stories, and community. There’s just one catch: No cake, no entry.
The Cake Picnic tour is rapidly spreading across the world, and while it hasn’t announced a stop in Indy yet, we did some daydreaming about what cakes we’d bring to the party.
The Cake Bake Shop’s cakes are celebrity favorites, with the mint chocolate chip cake even landing a spot on Oprah Winfrey’s famous “O” List in 2018.
Readers with a great memory will recall that Editor Shea got her wedding cake here. Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake may run us $125 — but we’ll be the most popular person at the picnic.
Carrot cake lovers, this one’s for you. Circle City Sweets’ version of the springy classic is moist, decadent, and perfect for sharing with friends. And if there was ever any doubt about how good the bakery is, owner Cindy Hawkins just won the World Dessert Championship.
Vicious Biscuit is known for its its bold flavors, made-from-scratch biscuits, and signature “Jam Bar.”
