New year... new home?
If you’re looking to change up your home design this year, here are a few trends you might want to think about adopting in your space — and where you can find them in homes for sale around Indy.
Dark wood
This isn’t your grandma’s gloomy den. Deeper, “heritage” wood tones are making a comeback in doors, beams, and flooring, adding warmth and depth to interiors.
Check out how the dark wood beautifully frames the dining area in this 1910 home — which also sports a breathtaking matching staircase.
Enjoy lounging in the sun on the grass or eating brunch on the patio of this historic estate.
Keep “open concept” layouts indoors. Dividing a yard into dedicated zones for eating, gardening, or playing sports will be all the rage.
This historic Meridian Park estate tackles the task nicely, with a stone patio just off the kitchen for al fresco dining, a swath of green lawn for pets or kids to play on, and a long driveway with open space between the house and garage that’s the perfect size for a half basketball court.
The company premiere of “Train” by guest choreographer Robert Battle, former Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre
The world premiere of “Takbuhan” by 2025/26 Jaffee and Hall Emerging Choreographer Christa Smutek
A world premiere by Christel DeHaan Artistic Director Joshua Blake Carter
Plus, don’t miss a talkback with Robert Battle on February 6 at 6:30 p.m. and one with Christa Smutek on February 7.
Set to a live percussive recording, “Train” is a three-part ritual reflecting the dancers’ lives on stage. The rhythm pulses like a heartbeat, connecting each performer and showcasing their constant rise and fall.
Tickets start at $35, with discounts available for students and military/veterans.

Super Bowl LX kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 8. Whether you’re catching the game at your favorite sports bar or hosting a watch party at home, we’ve rounded up a few must-haves for every kind of big-game watcher:
I have another top tier art deco treat for you in the form of this custom 1881 Italianate home in The Old Northside. It truly has it all: Stained glass windows, pocket doors, gold tin ceiling, pendant light fixtures originally from the Murat. The previous owner even had the house examined by a psychic, who said it’s inhabited by three friendly spirits. To say that I’m obsessed would be an understatement.
