Mark your calendars: Volume 2: ARRESTING MOMENTUM is coming to the Tobias Theater at Newfields next month.

From Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8, Hoosiers can experience a weekend where legacy and the future of contemporary dance collide.

Highlights include:

  • The company premiere of “Train” by guest choreographer Robert Battle, former Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre
  • The world premiere of “Takbuhan” by 2025/26 Jaffee and Hall Emerging Choreographer Christa Smutek
  • A world premiere by Christel DeHaan Artistic Director Joshua Blake Carter

Plus, don’t miss a talkback with Robert Battle on February 6 at 6:30 p.m. and one with Christa Smutek on February 7.

Set to a live percussive recording, “Train” is a three-part ritual reflecting the dancers’ lives on stage. The rhythm pulses like a heartbeat, connecting each performer and showcasing their constant rise and fall.

Tickets start at $35, with discounts available for students and military/veterans.
