🏓 Up the creek with a padel

Move over, pickleball — or at least make a little room for another racket sport in town. We’re talking about padel, which is rapidly growing in popularity across the US. If you want to get ahead of the curve and play locally, here’s what to know.
What is padel?
Padel (pronounced like “paddle”) was invented in Mexico in 1969, but found its footing in Spain in the 1970s. It’s best described as a cross between tennis and squash, played on a smaller court that’s enclosed by walls — which are also part of the game. The sport is typically played in pairs, and this how-to guide outlines the key rules.
Where can I play padel?
Central Indiana’s first official padel club, NorthPoint Padel, just opened at 20099 N. East St. in Westfield. Follow along on Instagram for a glimpse at the facility before you swing by. It offers professional-grade courts, 24/7 access for members, and private changing rooms + showers coming soon.

One of my secret passions is discovering weird roadside attractions — and I just stumbled across a new one in Richmond in the form of a giant candle. If you’ve visited Warm Glow Candle Company, send me your pictures — my heart will be aflame with appreciation.
