Some small-scale road projects wrapped up in October, but November has its fair share of work to do.

By now, you’ve probably had to reroute around major projects like the North Split + Market and Delaware streets downtown, but here’s some smaller construction projects happening this month that you’re still going to want to know about.

🚧 W. Market St.

The westbound lane from Monument Circle to Illinois Street + the right-most northbound lane of Illinois where it meets Market will be closed through the end of the year to rebuild the street with ADA-compliant ramps and crosswalks, streetscaping, and more parking. This is the same work being done to E. Market Street between Alabama + Delaware streets, which is still closed through mid November.

🚧 Indiana Ave.

Starting on Nov. 1, for about three weeks, Citizens Energy Group will be doing utility work on Indiana Ave. from University Blvd. to West St. in preparation for the upcoming work for the Indianapolis Cultural Trail expansion.

🚧 Virginia Ave.

The intersection of Virginia Ave. + Delaware St. downtown is blocked off to complete improvements related to the Delaware St. rehabilitation project. It’s expected to reopen later this month.

🚧 16th St.

16th St. from I-65 to Capitol Ave. will undergo underground utility work through the end of January for the construction of a new IU Health hospital.

Pro tip: Patients + emergency vehicles will have to use a temporary access road to the Methodist Hospital emergency department.

🚧 E. Pleasant Run Parkway N. Dr.

Avoid E. Pleasant Run Parkway N. Dr. between Beecher + Shelby streets through Dec. 25, as Citizens Energy Group will be working on a sewer rehabilitation project.

We know road work can be frustrating, especially during your morning commute. You can find traffic information like road conditions and closures on INDOT’s interactive TrafficWise map.
