It’s the season of treats... or tricks. We’re in the height of pumpkin spice season and local chefs and bakers are getting creative, infusing spooky season with authentic fall flavors that you won’t find in a chain restaurant.

Before your next Halloween outing or promenade through the pumpkin patch, dig into these treats that capture the cozy essence of autumn in Indy.

Public Greens , 902 E. 64th St.
Fall bonfires mean s’mores. This cozy spot along the Monon Trail in Broad Ripple is serving up the classic treat — fork and knife edition. Try the brown-butter graham cracker crust filled with creamy dark chocolate ganache, and topped with marshmallow cream that’s toasted to order.

This is basically your favorite candy/ice cream/midnight snack turned into a frozen pie.

Pots & Pans Pie Co. , 4915 N. College Ave.
In charge of bringing a dessert to the Halloween party? The Chocolate Peanut Butter Icebox Pie features a creamy chocolate filling with swirls of salty peanut butter that’s specially decorated for spooky season. Pro tip: While you’re picking up your pie, the shop is also now accepting Thanksgiving orders.

Not sure about you, but “Hocus Pocus” is a favorite spooky season film for City Editor Nicole.

The Flying Cupcake , Multiple locations
It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus. Starting today, Oct. 17, you can order Hocus Pocus-themed cupcakes online or over the phone to enjoy with your sisters throughout the spooky season.

The Robe Chocolat Exotique is a spin on the traditional chocolate croissant Lanio Jean Marie.

The croissant and pastry creations by 27-year-old pâtissier Chantell Kayyod are as delicious as they are captivating. Right now, there’s no official storefront but you can get your hands on her ever-changing selection of treats at pop-up events around Indy — if you get there early enough.

Pro tip: Her next pop-up will be at Nuova Vita Vintage (907 N. Pennsylvania St.) on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. until pastries are sold out.

Bouge Cookie Company’s treats are almost too cute to eat.
