Ready to get groovy, Indy? Record Store Day is just around the corner and we’ve rounded up five record stores that are in tune with your musical needs + ready to celebrate Record Store Day.

Square Cat Vinyl, 1054 Virginia Ave.

Starting at 8 a.m., this Fountain Square hangout will be playing live music by several local musicians like Joshua Powell and selling exclusive RSD releases — including Taylor Swift titles. The first 50 record-buying customers will receive a free giveaway bag.

Karma Records, Multiple locations

Karma is the oldest independent record store in Indy with three locations on the east, west + north side of town. You’ll be able to buy hundreds of RSD exclusive titles here, plus get entered to win a number of prizes.

Irvington Vinyl & Books, 202 S. Audubon Rd.

The east side staple will be offering several discounts on Record Store Day, including 10% off new albums and 20% off all used vinyl. Plus, it’ll have a huge $1 record sale.

Indy CD & Vinyl, 806 Broad Ripple Ave.

The vinyl shop says there will be something for everyone here on Record Store Day. Follow along on social media to find out what exclusives it’ll have in stock for you.

Luna Music, 5202 N. College Ave.

For those looking to snack while they shop, this SoBro favorite will have beer from Black Circle + scoops from Circles Ice Cream again, in addition to live music all day and its annual sidewalk sale, starting at 10 a.m.

And if you’re lacking a turntable in your life (or maybe yours just needs an update), snag a turntable with Bluetooth connectivity or one with 36-watt bookshelf speakers.

Take a ride through history at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee

Presented by an INDYtoday partner
Harley-Davidson Museum Campus April 2023
The museum’s exhibits provide an in-depth look into the lifestyle, culture, and community inspired by Harley-Davidson motorcycles. | Photo by Harley-Davidson Museum
Want to take a look at culture and history through the lens of… motorcycles? Yep, that’s a thing.

In Milwaukee’s newly revamped Harley-Davidson Museum (a ~4.5-hour drive from Indianapolis), attendees can explore the storied history of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and how they’ve influenced culture since roaring onto the scene in 1903.

What not to miss at the museum

Located on a sprawling, 20-acre campus, the Harley-Davidson Museum has so much to see (read: two floors of permanent exhibits) that it can be hard to know where to start.

Here’s what not to miss:
  1. The Experience Gallery, where visitors can interact with the newest Harley-Davidson Freedom Machines and immerse themselves in riders’ unique stories.
  2. “Mama Tried: Bringing It Together,” a new exhibit opening June 17
  3. MOTOR Bar & Restaurant to enjoy a riverfront meal and make a day of it
  4. The Harley-Davidson® Shop and Factory Shop, which offer one-of-a-kind products, including the exclusive H-D Museum 120th Anniversary collection.
And that’s just the beginning of what the Harley-Davidson Museum has to offer — to see it all, you’ll just have to go.*

News Notes

Traffic
  • I-70’s Delaware and 11th Street on-ramp is closed as of yesterday. It’s scheduled to reopen on Friday, April 28 after the North Split crew builds a permanent barrier wall. In the meantime, you can access I-70 eastbound by taking the Pine + Rural Street ramps, as well as Martin Luther King Jr. Street. (WRTV)
Development
  • A 260-acre development with 399 single-family houses + townhouses, 280 apartments, and 20,000 sqft of retail space is in the works for Zionsville’s west side, north of West Oak Street. It would also feature a trail network and clubhouse for residents. The project would take eight years to complete. (IBJ)
Opening
  • Beacon Off The Path — a new eatery filling the place of Grump’s Slice Stop next to Black Circle — announced its grand opening will be on Thursday, April 20 from 5 to 10 pm. We’re not sure what the 46th Street spot will be serving yet, but considering it’s the sister restaurant to Gold Leaf, it’s bound to be delish.
Hoosier
  • Indy author Maurice Broaddus is working with Marvel on a dossier-style book that will dive deeper into Wakanda’s “man behind the mask,” based on in-world interviews, journals, and articles. The release of “Black Panther: T’Challa Declassified,” is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2024.
Community
  • More accessible workstations are on their way to the Indianapolis Public Library, thanks to a new partnership with Easterseals Crossroads. Each one will be equipped with height-adjustable desks, large-key + large-print keyboards, and text reading, math, magnification, and screen reading apps. They should be installed at all branches over the next few months. (Inside Indiana Business)
Sports
  • UIndy baseball player Brady Ware made history last week when he threw a no-hitter and hit for the cycle in the same game. Plus, he had 11 strikeouts. According to WISH, no one has ever accomplished that feat — in college or the pros. See his impressive career stats here. (WISH)
