This is s’more than a feeling. S’mores are typically associated with bonfires in the fall, but in Indy, you can have different takes on this campfire treat year-round.

Here are some local spins on s’mores as we celebrate National S’mores Day today, Aug. 10.

Hotel Tango Distillery | The distillery’s ‘Shmallow Toasted Marshmallow Bourbon — a bourbon whiskey boasting notes of toasted marshmallows, caramelized sugar, smoke, and camaraderie — is back as we gear up for fall.

You can find S’morecicles pop up at local events around town.

S’morecicles | We told you about this local business on wheels in our mobile business guide. We can’t get enough of the frozen s’mores on a stick. City Editor Nicole’s favorites are the S’moreo + S’morefetti.

Circles Ice Cream | The local ice cream served by the pint is back with its Campfire S’mores flavor. This is a graham cracker ice cream layered with gooey chocolate ganache, torched marshmallow fluff, and smoked graham cracker crumbles. You can find it in grab + go freezers around Indy.

Indiana State Fair | This year’s State Fair food lineup includes Gimme S’more Bourbon Shake (feat. Hotel Tango’s Shmallow Bourbon) and a S’mores Funnel Cake. Don’t miss out — the State Fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 20.

Big Bear Biscuits | Biscuits with a side of Campfire Delight. Get your caffeine fix with this latte featuring a trio of chocolate, brûléed marshmallows, and crushed graham crackers.

Beurre Sec Pastry | This Sunday, Aug. 13 starting at 8 a.m. until sell out, Beurre Sec is popping up at Lulu’s Coffee + Bakehouse (2292 W. 86th St.) with a selection of pastries — including a s’mores tart.

Plus 48,000 unique plant species — the Indy Zoo really has it all.

With the opening of their new Front Entry Experience earlier this summer, visitors have the opportunity to meet Wild Encounter animals (think: parrots, sloths, snakes), and get up close with bigger animals like kangaroos, giraffes, flamingos and more with the Animal Feed Experience.

This fall, Zahara, the African elephant, will give birth to a baby calf — the world’s first elephant ever to be born via artificial insemination to a mother who was also born through the same process.
