Light the torch and cue that iconic Olympics theme song — we’re ready for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics happening Friday, July 26 to Sunday, Aug. 11.

At this summer’s Olympic Games, approximately 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees will compete across 32 sports — including some new ones.

Since we’re all about keeping it local, we’ve rounded up seven Paris 2024 Olympians with ties to Indy that you should keep your eye on. Let the Games begin.

Cole Hocker, Track and Field

Cathedral High School graduate Cole Hocker is one of the top distance runners in the world. The 23-year-old finished sixth in the 1500 meters in his first Olympic Games in Tokyo and has a shot at medaling in Paris.

Drew Kibler, Swimming

Drew Kibler hails from the Carmel Swim Club. The freestyle swimmer is highly motivated to win a medal in Paris after finishing fourth in the 4x200 freestyle relay at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Seven Olympic swimmers jump from their diving boards in the US Olympic Swim Trials in Indianapolis, IN.

Swimming has been an event in the Olympics since 1896.

Alex Shackell, Swimming

At just 17 years old, Alex Shackell has become the first female swimmer from Carmel to make it to the Olympics. Her brother, Aaron, also made the swimming team for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Tyler Downs, Diving

Tyler Downs, who trains in Noblesville, made the Olympic team four years ago when he was just 17 years old. After finishing 23rd in springboard diving in Tokyo, he’s back and chasing a medal with Purdue’s Greg Duncan. The two took first place in the men’s 3-meter synchronized springboard to qualify for Paris.
